CLTS Programme Frees Nsanje From Cholera Attack

Nsanje district which is infamous for Cholera outbreaks has not registered any cholera related case since November last year, a development that has called for celebrations by stakeholders in the district.  Statistics sourced from Nsanje District Health Office indicate that the area is severely hit by Cholera almost every year. The information shows that the hospital registered 473 cases with nine deaths during last Cholera year alone (November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012). Public Relations Officer for Nsanje District Hospital Stanley Chilumbu attributed the substantial change to Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) programme which is promoted by Government through various Water Hygiene and Sanitation stakeholders.
