CLTS Knowledge Hub activities at WEDC Conference 27-31 July

The CLTS Knowledge Hub will be offering four CLTS-related activities at the upcoming international WEDC Conference which is taking place in Loughborough from the 27-31 July 2015. We warmly invite you to join us for one or all of the below. Download a flyer with details or read on.


  1. A one day CLTS Sharing and Learning workshop on Sunday 26th July, 9.30-17.00, at Burleigh Court Please register by email (See flyer for details)
  2. An evening side session: Frontiers of Sustainability and CLTS’ on Tuesday 28th July, 17.30 – 19.00, room TBC
  3. A briefing paper on common themes and trends in 14 different urban CLTS projects across India and Africa by Jamie Myers..
  4. A CLTS stall in the exhibition area where you can pick up free CLTS related publications and chat to CLTS practitioners.

The side event looks at CLTS and sustainability in terms of learning from existing research and practice, key challenges and innovative solutions. Robert Chambers, Sue Cavill, Suzanne Hanchett and others will take stock of the current situation and share reflections on key findings, ways forward and areas where we need to know more. Frontier topics to be touched on may be chosen from: how to phase in sanitation marketing; post-ODF engagement; how to ensure equity and inclusion; how to transform social norms and; monitoring, learning, changing. Sources of information and contacts for follow up will be shared with participants.

The Briefing Paper on urban CLTS identifies common characteristics, problems and opportunities. Based on the paper, Jamie Myers will also make recommendations for those currently working on UCLTS projects and those interested in transferring the CLTS model to urban environments
