Call for abstracts for the 5th Virtual Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) in WASH in Schools Conference

The 5th Annual Virtual Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in Schools (WinS) Conference will take place on the 25th October 2016 and will focus on the many ways that girls’ voices are being captured and channeled into action on MHM in schools and in their lives more broadly. The evidence base on the MHM barriers girls face in schools in low-income contexts is building, with increasing advocacy, programming and research aimed at understanding the most effective interventions for addressing the WASH-related challenges facing menstruating girls and female teachers in schools. Please submit an abstract by August 1st 2016 to The email submission MUST include the following information:

  • Contact: Name of contact person at submitting organization
  • Abstract Details: One-page abstract detailing the content of your proposed presentation including
  1. Title
  2. Name of presenter, organization, country
  3. Category of content (research, program, advocacy, or combination)
  4. Outline of proposed presentation content (see 2016 focus areas)

The deadline for submissions is 1st August 2016. Selected participants will be notified by 10th August 2016.

Conference Theme: Capturing Girls’ Voices: Channeling Girls’ Recommendations into Global and National Level Action!

This year’s conference aims to showcase initiatives that are translating girls’ expressed needs into actionable programming or strategic shifts in education and WASH programs and policies, including indicators to capture measureable change, and the engagement of teachers and government actors.
