Au Niger les évaluations jusque là effectuées dans les zones où la mise en œuvre est appuyée par l’UNICEF se sont faites sur la base d’un document consensuel qui prend en compte les éléments suivants :

From the 11th to the 15th March 2013, the third annual review meeting of Plan’s Pan African programme Empowering self-help sanitation of rural and peri-urban communities and schools in Africa took place in Lilongwe, Malawi. Participants from 7 of the 8 programme countries as well as representatives of the partner organisations (Plan Netherlands, IRC and IDS) spent the week discussing progress of the 5 year project as well as key emerging issues, questions and next steps.

Before the advent of the CLTS in Plan Niger’s intervention area, students were using the area right behind the classrooms or the bush rather than in the latrines to defecate. To alleviate this situation, Plan Niger has extended CLTS activities to the schools. Gongatarey school has been using School-Led Total Sanitation (SLTS) since 2011 to improve the school environment. This includes promoting the use and maintenance of the school latrines, as well as student-led sessions on health and hygiene.
