A new film on the CLTS experience in East Garo Hills in Meghalaya is now available for download from the Government of India’s Department for Drinking Water website (see the small brown box on the upper left side of the page).
The village of Fadieda was one of 15 villages selected by UNICEF and the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation to change the way it approaches sanitation. Using a community-led approach to sanitation, Fadieda’s villagers have built no fewer than 40 latrines in less than a month and Fadieda has become the first village to receive an ‘Open Air Defecation Free’ status.
