Reflections on Plan’s CLTS programme in Homa Bay by Tatiana Thieme (University of Cambridge, based on her visit on June 24th and 25th 2010.
Celebrations took place in Homabay on 11th May 2010 when a total of 8 villages were declared ODF.
Practical tips for ODF verification and certification based on the experience in Nyanza Province, Kenya.
by Philip Vincent Otieno, Program Facilitator, Plan Kenya, Homabay
Brief account of the celebrations in Kochogo where three villages were declared ODF on the 19th April 2010. Contains interesting examples of how the communities overcame challenges like collapsing soil (“Where there is a will, there is a way”!), and how a strong crude slogan has helped to spread the message and change behaviour.
An example of how successful CLTS activities in one village can inspire and jump-start neigbouring areas into following suit. The story of Manera also shows the importance of ‘campaigns’ that carry the message of good sanitation and hygiene beyond the boundaries of a given community.
News update from Philip Vincent Otieno, Plan Kenya, Homa Bay
I am glad to announce to you that once again, Homabay DA has registered
