Zambian TV drama series incorporates CLTS storyline

In the Zambian soap opera Banja on muvitv , CLTS has become a hot topic!

Banja is televised every weekday at 20:00 hrs Zambian time, except Wednesdays when it is shown at 19:00. It is repeated on Sundays as an omnibus from 10:45 -12:00.

LatinoSan 2010

The 2nd LatinoSan Conference will be taking place in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil from the 14th-18th March 2010.

IDS is holding a One Day Introductory workshop on CLTS (see flyer below) as well as a lunchtime session on CLTS at the event, so if you are attending LatinoSan, please join us for one or both. Papers on CLTS from the West Africa Regional Sanitation and Hygiene Symposium, 3-5 November 2009, Accra, Ghana

The bi-lingual West Africa Regional Symposium on Sanitation and Hygiene (3-5 Nov 2009, Accra, Ghana) brought together about 140 participants from 17 countries. It was jointly organised by the Resource Centre Network Ghana, UNICEF, West Africa Water Initiative (WAWI), WaterAid, and IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, and supported by the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council.

The Sh!t Fire Burns On in Kenya

For the third year running Plan Kenya, partners and communities will be celebrating World Toilet Day on the 19th November 2009. This year has seen more organizations join the growing CLTS network. These include SNV (The Netherlands Development Organization), World Vision and Oxfam UK among others. There is increased interest in piloting CLTS in low income settlements in Nairobi by organizations such UN HABITAT, Community Cleaning Services and Nairobi City Council. Kilifi is moving towards achieving their goal of becoming the first ODF district in Kenya.

Regional Workshop on CLTS in the South East Asia and Pacific Region

Almost 60 participants from eight countries in the South East Asia and Pacific region gathered last week in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to talk about Community-led Total Sanitation.
