  • On the 6th January 2012, EWB and the Ministry of Health, supported by IDS, held a district-level sanitation monitoring and evaluation (M&E) pilot review workshop. The objectives of this workshop included:

    • updates on the current status of the pilot program,
    • clarification on the proposed indicators,
    • review of responsibilities,
    • data collection, entry, and analysis activities,
    • harmonization of proposed district indicators with other sector indicators,
    • the creation of an action plan for going forward.
  • On the 7th December 2011, the Government of Malawi (GoM) through the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and key line ministries in collaboration with development partners, NGOs, private sector, communities and key sector players, officially launched the ODF Malawi Strategy (2012-2015).

  • Short summary of a study by Engineers without Borders which looked at whether CLTS is truly effective at creating ODF villages, sustainability of behaviour change and areas for improvement during post-triggering activities and follow in TA Mkanda, Malawi.

  • One page poster that summarises the key knowledge, skills and attitudes that CLTS facilitators must possess to excel in CLTS.

  • One page tool that gives guidance on what information may be useful to record during triggering to help extension with follow up.

  • Practice Note #2 in the series Building a CLTS Learning Community in Malawi put together by Ashley Raeside of EWB. The note describes how Mr. Kondowe, the DEHO for Kasungu District in Malawi adapted the CLTS approach to effectively respond to cholera outbreaks in 2009.
