CLTS Knowledge Hub updates from SACOSAN VII

The seventh South Asian Conference on Sanitation (SACOSAN), a government led biennial convention, was held in Islamabad, Pakistan, April 10-14, 2018.

Since being established in 2003 its objectives are:

  • To accelerate the progress in sanitation and hygiene promotion in South Asia
  • To reiterate political commitment in each country of the region for furthering the sanitation agenda
  • To share experiences and lessons learnt in sanitation and hygiene promotion

The main formal outcome of the event was the Islamabad SAOCSAN-VII Declaration.

As part of the conference Hub members Jamie Myers and Robert Chambers presented a paper titled, Timely, relevant and actionable feedback for stronger sanitation programmes.

In addition, ahead of the conference, the CLTS Knowledge Hub, UNICEF and WSSCC co-convened a half-day Sharing and Learning Workshop. Over 50 participants from across region including those working in Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as well as international agencies participated.
